Why Does My PXI-8186 Randomly Reboot and Give MAX Errors?

Hardware: PXI/CompactPCI>>Controllers>>PXI-8186

Problem:
My PXI-8186 randomly reboots for no reason and gives MAX configuration files may be corrupt after booting.

Solution:
These errors are caused by a corrupt system files, possibly caused by a power cycle while the files were being accessed. Deleting the following items from your PXI system should resolve the issue.

Delete these files:
  • /ni-rt/system/Config.mxs
  • /ni-rt/system/Config.mxc

Delete this folder:
  • /ni-rt/system/Last/

If this did not fix the problem, formatting the system drive and reinstalling the software might be necessary. To format the system drive, right-click the controller from within Measurement and Automation Exlplorer and select Format Drive.
