Changes To The Sound & Vibration Measurement Suite Since Release

Primary Software: Sound and Vibration Measurement Suite
Primary Software Version: 2009
Primary Software Fixed Version: N/A
Secondary Software: Sound and Vibration Measurement Suite

Problem:
What changes have been made to the Sound & Vibration Measurement Suite since its initial release?

Solution:
You can see the changes to each additional version by looking at the New Features section of the readme documents attached below.  Here is the compiled list:

New in Sound and Vibration Measurement Suite 5.0

  • Express VIs, including Analog Tachometer Processing, Spectral Map, Order Spectrum, Order Tracking, and Order Waveform
  • Envelope detection
  • AC and DC separation for even-angle signals
  • Even-time or even-speed segment VIs
  • Conversion between XY speed profile and speed profile waveform
  • Improved examples supporting all NI DAQ devices
New in Sound and Vibration Measurement Suite 6.0

  • Measuring Torsional Vibration
    • Torsional vibration is a common phenomenon for rotating machinery such as engines, compressors, and turbines. High torsional vibration in a rotating system can cause the failure of rotating components or damage to the system. Use the Torsional Vibration Measurement VIs to measure and monitor torsional vibration in rotating systems. The Torsional Vibration Measurement VIs can calculate torsional vibration signals from both analog and digital tachometer signals. The Torsional Vibration Measurement VIs also can compensate for geometric imperfections that a tachometer system might have.
  • Applying Weighting to Human Vibration Signals
    • Human vibration refers to the effects of mechanical vibration on the human body. Measuring and analyzing human vibration signals can help control the negative effects of mechanical vibration on the human body. Use the SVT Human Vibration Weighting Filter (Fixed Rate) VI, the SVT Human Vibration Weighting Filter (frequency) VI, and the SVT Human Vibration Weighting Filter (octave) VI to apply weighting to human vibration signals in both the time and frequency domains. Applying weighting to human vibration signals can isolate the directional components that you are interested in and help you further analyze different types of human vibration.
  • Performing Order Analysis on VxWorks Real-Time Targets
    • The Sound and Vibration Measurement Suite now supports order analysis functionality on VxWorks Real-Time targets.
New in Sound and Vibration Measurement Suite 7.0
  • Sound Quality VIs
    • Use the Sound Quality VIs to perform sound quality measurements, including stationary loudness, time-varying loudness, sharpness, roughness, fluctuation strength, and tonality.
  • Machine Vibration VIs and Plots
    • Use the Machine Vibration VIs and plots to measure and display vibration data. Express VIs allow you to perform configuration-based analysis such as order tracking. Sophisticated controls allow you to visualize the vibration data on industry-standard plots, including Bode, polar, orbit, timebase, and shaft centerline plots.
  • TDMS File I/O VIs
    • Use the TDMS File I/O VIs to read data from, and write data to, .tdms files.
  • Support for Multiple Versions of LabVIEW
    • You can use the Sound and Vibration Measurement Suite with LabVIEW 8.2.x, 8.5.x, or 8.6.x.
  • Support for Licensing
    • All VIs are licensed using the NI License Manager.
