What Happens When Communication Fails To My NI 9144 Expansion Chassis?Hardware: CompactRIO>>Chassis (Backplanes)
Problem: What happens to my NI 9144 and the modules it contains when communication to the master device fails, or the master loses power? Solution: The NI 9144 will enter into a safety state if the Sync Manager Watchdog times out. The default timeout is set to 10 scan periods. All input and and output values will become 0 (zero) in this case. As soon as the connection is re-established the outputs would need to be updated to have a different value from zero. For an example on how to recover from this state once connection to the master has been re-established, see the attached project.
