Using PXI-8212 Device to Control a PXI System ExternallyHardware: GPIB>>Plug-in Controllers>>PCI-8212, Instrument Connectivity Other>>Ethernet>>PCI-8212
Problem: Can I use the PXI-8212 (GPIB Ethernet PXI card) to control my PXI system from an external computer? Could I use this device instead of MXI-3 or MXI-4, for instance? Solution: No. The PXI-8212 does not have the necessary features to act as the PXI system controller. It is intended as a non-slot-1 PXI card to control a GPIB instruments or connect to a network. MXI-Express and MXI-4 are the recommended interface kits that National Instruments offers to control PXI systems from external computers.
