How Can I Programmatically Change Configurations of a FieldPoint Module?

Primary Software: LabVIEW Development Systems>>Base Package
Primary Software Version: 7.1
Primary Software Fixed Version: N/A
Secondary Software: N/A
Hardware: FieldPoint

Problem: I would like to programmatically change channel configurations on my FieldPoint module. For example, I would like to change the filter setting on my [c]FP-AI-110 or change the period of my [c]FP-PWM-520 from LabVIEW. How can I do this?

Solution:

  1. Open Measurement & Automation Explorer (MAX).

  2. Under Remote Systems (or Devices and Interfaces if you're using a serial interface module), click on the FieldPoint module of interest.

  3. Select the Channel Configuration tab at the very bottom of MAX. If a parameter is available for programmatic control, it will have a Create Item button next to it.

  4. "Create Item" will create a data item in Data Neighborhood. You can read from and/or write to this item from LabVIEW using the FP Read.vi and FP Write.vis.
