Can the Shared ISA and PCI Slot Riser Cards be Interchanged Between VXIpc Controllers?Hardware: VXI/VME/MXI>>VXI Controllers
Problem: I have a VXIpc-850 controller with a 3rd party ISA card installed in the shared ISA/PCI slot. I want to be able to use that ISA card in a VXIpc-870B controller. That particular controller only has a PCI slot, not the shared ISA/PCI slot. The ISA/PCI riser card will physically fit into the riser card slot in the VXIpc-870B. If I install the VXIpc-850's riser card in the VXIpc-870's slot, will the ISA slot function? Solution: The ISA riser card will not work on the VXIpc-870B series, VXIpc-770, or newer controllers. On older VXIpc controllers like the VXIpc-850/860/870, a shared ISA/PCI riser card is offered because the various chipsets that are used on those controllers support ISA functionality. The chipset used on the VXIpc-870B, the Intel 815E chipset, does not support that functionality. Even though the connector for the riser card is exactly the same and it is possible to mechanically swap the riser cards back and forth, the chipset does not support the ISA functionality.
