I Cannot Change Device Number in MAX on Windows Vista After Upgrading Traditional DAQ

Primary Software: Driver Software>>NI-DAQ
Primary Software Version: 7.4.4
Primary Software Fixed Version: 7.4.4
Secondary Software: Driver Software>>NI-SCOPE
Hardware: Modular Instruments>>High-Speed Digitizers (Scopes)

Problem:
I have recently upgraded Traditional DAQ (NI-DAQ legacy), and now I cannot change the device number of my hardware in Measurement & Automation Explorer (MAX). What causes this behavior, and how do I correct it?

Solution:
The problem arrises because uninstalling Traditional DAQ 7.4.3 (or earlier) does not remove the niconfig.daq file from your system, and this creates an issue on Windows Vista for later installations of Traditional DAQ 7.4.4. To prevent this problem from happening, delete niconfig.daq from %WINDIR%, before installting 7.4.4 and immediately after uninstalling Traditional NI-DAQ 7.4.3 or earlier.

Note: You will need elevated access to perform this operation on Vista.
