Why does the Instrument I/O in CVI not auto-generate my read functions?

Primary Software: LabWindows/CVI Development Systems>>Full Development System
Primary Software Version: 2.0
Primary Software Fixed Version: N/A
Secondary Software: N/A

Problem:
When I use the Instrument I/O in CVI, it only auto-generates the viPrintf and viFlush functions? Why does it not generate the viScanf functions?

Solution:
To actually receive the auto-generated read functions you must run the step as well as click the auto parse button.  For instance, if you place down a “Query and Parse” step and then click the Okay button in the Instrument I/O dialog box, it will only generate commands to communicate with the device.  To successfully produce the read functions, you must use the “Query and Parse” and then within the step configuration box, you must click Run this step and then press the Auto-parse button.
