Why is the Digital Output Line 1 on my PCI-7390 Not Working?

Primary Software: Driver Software>>NI-Motion/FlexMotion
Primary Software Version: 7.2
Primary Software Fixed Version: 7.2
Secondary Software: N/A
Hardware: Motion Control>>Controllers>>PCI-7390

Problem:
I have a PCI-7390 motion controller and I am trying to use the digital output lines. When using line 0 on the ports related to axis 1, 2, 3 and 4, I am able to change the line state. But when I try to change the line state with line number 1, I do not get the results I am expecting. How can I get the digital output line 1 to work on my 7390?

Solution:
First, make sure that you are using the most recent version of the NI-Motion driver, and if you do not have the most recent version then you should upgrade to the most recent if possible.

The Inhibit Output line 1 for each axis of the PCI-7390s are, by default, mapped to the Digital Output line 1 on each axis. You can see this in the Measurement and Automation Explorer by doing the following:
  • Select Axis 1 (or any axis)
  • Select the "IO Mapping" tab at the bottom of the page. (See the screenshot Motion Digital Output line not changing.PNG attached below for reference.)
  • You will then see that the "Inhibit Output" under the Output Mapping is mapped to "Axis 1 Output 1” and the same can be seen for each of the other Axes.

To change this, simply double click on Axis 1 Output 1 and change it to "None". This will now allow you to use the Digital Output line 1 for that specific Axis as a normal Digital Output line. Once you do this, you should now see the same behavior for line 1 as you see for line 0 after initializing your motion controller.
