Voltage Spikes in Arbitrary Waveform Generation on NI 5411

Primary Software: Driver Software>>NI-DAQ
Primary Software Version: 6.8.1
Primary Software Fixed Version: 6.9.0
Secondary Software: N/A
Hardware: Signal Sources (AWG/FG/AO)>>Arbitrary Waveform and Function Generators>>PCI-5411, Signal Sources (AWG/FG/AO)>>Arbitrary Waveform and Function Generators>>PXI-5411, Signal Sources (AWG/FG/AO)>>Arbitrary Waveform and Function Generators>>AT-5411

Problem: During arbitrary waveform generation, and sequencing waveforms, voltages spikes appear near the end of the downloaded waveforms. This problem is most noticeable when the waveform is 0 Volts. This problem also occurs with a single download of a waveform, but is not as noticeable.

Solution: In NI-DAQ there is a race condition between the download of the waveforms and the routine that releases resources once it determines that the download is complete. On faster computers (usually 600 MHz PIII or better), the release of resources is beating the last few samples that are to be downloaded and random numbers are being included in the waveform.

This problem is fixed in NI-DAQ version 6.9.0 and later. Please visit the Related Link below to download the latest version of NI-DAQ.
