SignalExpress Freezes when Converting Log to ASCII Text File

Primary Software: LabVIEW SignalExpress>>Development System
Primary Software Version: 3.0
Primary Software Fixed Version: N/A
Secondary Software: N/A

Problem:
I have set my SignalExpress project to log data and to automatically export the log to an ASCII file. However, when my data is acquired, SignalExpress seems to freeze and I must stop it using the Task Manager. Why does this happen and how can I log my data to an ASCII file properly?

Solution:
In SignalExpress 3.0, there is a problem when converting logs to ASCII files. If your logging option (Tools » Options... » Logging) is set to Automatically export log to ASCII file (shown below), when you run the project, it will freeze and copies of the data will continuously be written into the ASCII file. This ASCII file will continuously increase in size until the hard drive is full or SignalExpress is closed. It is currently necessary to turn this option off when logging data.

The same issue will occur if a log file has already been created and the user tries to manually convert it to an ASCII file, as shown below. In this case as well, SignalExpress will become unresponsive and the ASCII file will continue to increase in size until the hard drive is full or SignalExpress is closed.

In order to log your data into an ASCII file without this problem occurring, you may manually add a step to log the data to an ASCII file. To do this, go to Add Step » Load/Save Signals » Analog Signals » Save to ASCII/LVM, as shown below.
