Vision Builder for Automated Inspection Deployment Options

Primary Software: Vision Builder for Automated Inspection
Primary Software Version: 3.0
Primary Software Fixed Version: N/A
Secondary Software: N/A

Problem:
I am using the Vision Builder for Automated Inspection (VBAI), and I want to deploy my vision programs to different systems. What are the options for deployment? What do I need to buy in terms of licenses?

Solution:
Using Vision Builder AI for your vision applications, there are several major deployment options:

  1. Using the NI-145x Compact Vision System (CVS)
If you have Vision Builder AI installed on a host machine, you can deploy vision programs to multiple CVS stations. The reason is that when you purchase a CVS, it already comes with all run-time and deployment licenses (LabVIEW Real-Time deployment license and IMAQ Vision deployment licence).

  2. Using a Small Number of PCs with IMAQ Hardware
Depending on what level of control you need:
    • There is a Vision Builder AI Run-Time license. Install Vision Builder AI software, as normal, and use this license to unlock the run-time option. This option will allow you to run inspections and configure the settings for individual steps. With this option you cannot add or remove steps. Check out the following Knowledgebase document about the features that are and are not available with the Vision Builder for Automated Inspection Run Time: Vision Builder AI Run-Time Available Features
    • You can purchase more licenses for Vision Builder AI, full version.
For more information about purchasing licenses you can contact a sales represenative at (888) 280-7645 or visit our website. Please see the related links for the Vision Builder AI product page.

  3. Using Many PCs with IMAQ Hardware
The last option involves running Vision Builder programs on a large number of computers that are equipped with IMAQ hardware. In this case, the best option is to use the LabVIEW code generation feature in Vision Builder AI. Then you can bring this code into LabVIEW (using the Vision development module) and use the Application Builder to create an executable for distribution. You will need to have the LabVIEW run-time engine and Vision run-time engine installed on each target computer. Vision Run-time does require a license.
For more information on purchasing deployment licenses for your software, please contact the National Instruments sales group.
