Long Delay Before the Help Opens Primary Software: DIAdemPrimary Software Version: 10.2 Primary Software Fixed Version: Secondary Software: DIAdem
Problem: In DIAdem you can open the online Help by pressing <F1>, clicking the Help menu item, or clicking the Help button in dialog boxes. It may take several minutes to open the DIAdem Help for the first time. This problem may affect the Help in all DIAdem versions and in other programs. The virus scanner could be the cause of the problem, while it checks all the HTML Help files. As the DIAdem Help files contain several thousand files, similar to zip files, the scan may take quite some time. Solution: Deactivate the scanning of all the *.chm files in the DIAdem program folder, or deactivate the scanning of packed *.chm files. If you are using the McAfee virus scanner, complete the following steps to deactivate the scanning of the DIAdem Help files: 1. Open the McAfee dialog "OnAccess Scan Properties". 2. Switch to the "Detection" tab for "Default Processes". 3. Click the "Exclusions" button. 4. Click the "Add" button. 5. Enter **\DIAdem*\*.chm under "By name/location". 6. Enable the settings "On read" and "On write". 7. Close all dialog boxes with OK. Or, complete these steps to deactivate the scanning of packed files: 1. Open the McAfee dialog "OnAccess Scan Properties". 2. Switch to the "Advanced" tab for "Default Processes". 3. Disable the setting "Scan inside archives (e.g. .ZIP)". 4. Close all dialog boxes with OK. Related Links: Attachments:
