Using the "Is Port Connected" VISA Serial Property in LabVIEW

Problem:
I am trying to use the Is Port Connected VISA Property in LabVIEW to detect if I have anything connected to my serial port, but I keep obtaining an error. What am I doing wrong?

Solution:
In order for LabVIEW to detect whether or not there is anything connected to the serial port, the port must be from National Instruments and controlled by the NI-Serial driver. National Instruments sells several serial products, including USB and PCI serial ports. If you try to use this property with your built-in serial port, such as COM1, you will obtain error code -1073807331.
