Problem: I have an application developed in Traditional NI-DAQ with PCI/PXI Multifunction DAQ devices and I need to support my application in Windows Vista. I am rewriting my code to support NI-DAQmx, but in the meantime I would like to temporarily use Traditional NI-DAQ in Windows Vista. Is there a temporary solution? Solution: NI is providing the Traditional NI-DAQ (Legacy) beta driver for temporary support to developers with legacy code needing to run on Windows Vista x86, the 32-bit version of this operating system. Use the beta driver only as a temporary solution while the legacy code is ported to NI-DAQmx to allow for continued, full support on Windows Vista and future OSs. The beta driver has not undergone extensive testing, and it is not recommended for use in deployed applications without full validation.
There are no plans to port the Traditional NI-DAQ (Legacy) beta driver to additional versions of Windows Vista, Windows Vista service packs, or other operating systems. NI-DAQmx driver and measurement services software provides full support for applications running on Windows Vista and Windows Vista x64 Edition. NI recommends not installing NI-DAQmx on the same machine as the Traditional NI-DAQ (Legacy) beta driver.
