MAX Does Not Save or Apply VISA Port Settings

Primary Software: Utility Software>>Measurement & Automation Explorer
Primary Software Version: 1.0.1
Primary Software Fixed Version: N/A
Secondary Software: N/A
Hardware: Serial, Serial>>RS-232, Serial>>RS-485

Problem:
I configured my serial or parallel port settings and saved them in MAX, but these settings are not applied, and/or old settings are restored when MAX is restarted.

Solution:
Measurement and Automation Explorer usually saves and retrieves the VISA port settings from a file called visaconf.ini, which is usually located in the Windows directory ...\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\National Instruments\NIvisa.

If MAX is not properly saving or applying the port configuration settings, you can manually modify them by editing this file in a text editor.

For modifying parity:
0 = none
1 = odd
2 = even
3 = mark
4 = space

For modifying flow control:
0 = none
1 = Xon/Xoff
2 = Hardware (RTS/CTS)
3 = Hardware (DTR/DSR)
