Problem: I am performing pattern I/O on my 6533 or 6534 device doing both input and output. I know that each operation will use one of the REQ lines to clock the acquisition/generation. The problem is that I would like the two clocks to be synchronized. How do I accomplish this? Solution: Each of the REQ lines can be configured to either generate the clock signal internally or accept an external clock signal. The trick is to set one to generate the clock internally, the other to accept an external clock, then physically connect both REQs.
