Problem: At what rate does the OPC Server for FieldPoint update? Solution: The update rate is 10 ms, and it cannot be changed. The figure below summarizes how an OPC Server communicates with a FieldPoint Controller.  When any FieldPoint service that requires communication with a FieldPoint unit is started, the FieldPoint Server is started on the Host PC. The FieldPoint Server communicates with Ethernet FieldPoint devices via NI proprietary protocol Logos.
When OPC is used to access FieldPoint channels, it adds an additional layer to communication because the OPC Server has to poll the FieldPoint server. As mentioned earlier, the polling rate is 10 ms.
