Deploying Measurement Studio Network Variable Web Applications

Primary Software: Measurement Studio>>.NET Support
Primary Software Version: 8.1.1
Primary Software Fixed Version: N/A
Secondary Software: N/A

Problem: How do I deploy a Measurement Studio Web application that uses network variables?

Solution: To deploy a Measurement Studio Web application, you must copy the application files to the Web server that will host the application. You can deploy a Web application by using the XCOPY command-line tool or the Copy Web Site Tool.

Refer to the Deploying Measurement Studio Web Applications help topic in the NI Measurement Studio Help for information about these two methods.

If your Web application uses network variables, you must perform an additional step. In addition to using one of the methods described earlier, you must also create a setup application. Refer to the MSDN document, How to: Create or Add a Setup Project, for instructions on creating a setup project.

Once you create the setup project, simply add the MStudioNetworkVariable.2005.msm merge module located in the Program Files\Common Files\Merge Modules directory to the project. Adding this merge module also adds any additional dependences needed. This step is needed in order to gather and deploy all the underlying DLLs and files for the network variable.

Install this setup application on the Web server that hosts your application.

For additional deployment information, refer to the Deploying Measurement Studio Applications help topic in the NI Measurement Studio Help.
