Synchronizing AI and AO on USB or PCMCIA DAQ Devices Using LabVIEW SignalExpress Primary Software: LabVIEW Signal Express>>Development SystemPrimary Software Version: 2.0 Primary Software Fixed Version: N/A Secondary Software: N/A
Problem: How can I use LabVIEW SignalExpress to synchronize analog input and analog output on my USB or PCMCIA DAQ device? Solution: LabVIEW SignalExpress uses RTSI lines to synchronize AI and AO. For example, if you would like to synchronize AI to AO on a single board, one task exports to a RTSI line and the other imports from the same RTSI line. This is different than the default behavior in NI-DAQmx that actually routes these signals internally. It was designed this way to make synchronization between separate devices easier. However, when trying to synchronize USB DAQ or PCMCIA DAQ products there isn't a way for this to be done directly since they lack RTSI connectors. To synchronize AI to AO using a USB or PCMCIA DAQ device such as the cDAQ-9172, USB-6259, etc., you must use an external trigger. For example you can generate a start trigger using an available counter and physically connect this output to a PFI line. You can then trigger off of this PFI line.
