Why Does the Real-Time System Manager Have 100% CPU Usage on FieldPoint?

Primary Software: Driver Software>>NI-FieldPoint
Primary Software Version: 4.1
Primary Software Fixed Version: N/A
Secondary Software: N/A
Hardware: FieldPoint

Problem:
My FieldPoint is not running any VIs or applications.  Why does Real-Time System Manager display 100% CPU usage on my FieldPoint at all times?

Solution:
The CPU is at 100% because the CPU is being used to poll I/O modules.  The Pause (ms) time setting in Measurement & Automation Explorer (MAX) determines how long the controller's I/O polling task sleeps.

By default, the time is 0 milliseconds.

While raising this value will decrease the CPU usage, it will lower the update rate of the I/O modules.  This is scheduled as a normal priority process (represented as white in Real-Time System Manager), so it does not effect the performance of high-priority threads.
