Can I Connect a 6-wire Unipolar Stepper Motor to the MID-7602/7604? Hardware: Motion Control>>Power Drives
Problem: I have a unipolar motor and would like to use a MID-760x to drive it. The user manual says I cannot use 5 lead unipolar stepper motors, but I have a 4 phase (6 lead) unipolar stepper motor. Can I use the MID-760x? Solution: Yes, you can use the MID-760x to power 4 phase unipolar stepper motors. You have to wire it as a 2 phase bi-polar motor, though. This is done by either not wiring the center tap, or not wiring one of the phases. The user manual shows how to do this under the "Stepper Motor Configurations" section, linked below.
