Why Do I Get A Timeout Error When I Use "Find Devices" On My Fieldpoint Controller? Primary Software: LabVIEW Modules>>Real-Time ModulePrimary Software Version: 7.1 Primary Software Fixed Version: N/A Secondary Software: N/A Hardware: FieldPoint>>Controllers/Network Modules
Problem: Why Do I Get A Timeout Error When I Use "Find Devices" On My Fieldpoint 20xx Controller? Solution: This timeout error may occur when the user has LVRT 7.1 installed on the host machine, while the controller lacks the most current FP-RT drivers. The following steps will upgrade the Fieldpoint drivers on the host computer to the versions needed for the FP unit to run RT 7.1. If these drivers are not installed the “Find Devices” command will give a timeout error. All other configuration functions of the module will continue to fuction without the drivers (i.e. configure module, IP address, etc.) so it would appear that the device is working properly. The Real Time 7.1 drivers for Fieldpoint modules are located on the National Instruments driver CD. The drivers are not available for download from NI.com. To install the drivers from the CD:
After the drivers are installed the Find Devices command will work without sending a timeout error.
