Negative Voltage on the NI PCI/PXI-6514 Digital I/O DeviceHardware: Digital I/O (DIO)>>Isolated>>PCI-6514
Problem: How do I output a negative voltage on my PCI/PXI-6514? Solution: The NI PCI/PXI-6514 DIO device is capable of isolated output of -30 to +30V. An external power supply is needed to output signals between these values. To provide the desired voltage to the device, connect the wire from the power supply of HIGHER potential to the desired port’s VCC terminal on the DAQ device, and the wire from the power supply of LESSER potential to the COM pin of the desired port on the DAQ device. In the case of a positive power supply voltage, connect the positive lead of the power supply to VCC on the 6514 and the negative lead of the power supply to COM on the device. In the case of a negative power supply voltage, connect the ground lead from the power supply to VCC, and the negative lead of the power supply to COM. Failure to connect properly could result in damage to the device. Related Links: NI PCI-6514 KnowlegdeBase 43RHELQ0: Why Do My Digital Output Lines Not Output a Digital High? Attachments:
