NI-VISA 2.5 Incompatible With GPIB-USB-A in Windows 2000 Primary Software: Driver Software>>NI-VISAPrimary Software Version: 2.5 Primary Software Fixed Version: 2.5.2 Secondary Software: N/A Hardware: GPIB>>External Controllers/Convertors>>GPIB-USB-A
Problem: NI-VISA 2.5 is unable to access the GPIB-USB-A under Windows 2000. When I try to run a LabVIEW VI, I get error -1073807194. Measurement & Automation Explorer (MAX) is able to detect the GPIB-USB-A, and I can use Scan for Instruments to find the instrument connected to it. The Interactive Control (IBIC) works as well, but the VISA Interactive Control (VISAIC) does not see the GPIB-USB-A or the instrument attached to it. (Everything works fine under Windows 98, including VISAIC.)Solution: NI-VISA version 2.5 was not compatible with the GPIB-USB-A. The best solution is to download and install the latest version of NI-VISA. If version 2.5 must be retained, it is possible to replace the NiVi488.dll file on your system with the file that is attached to this entry. This also applies to executables built with LabVIEW that use VISA to call a GPIB-USB-A with the VISA 2.5 Run-time Engine. To fix the problem, update the VISA Runtime Engine or replace the NiVi488.dll as stated above. This was fixed as of NI-VISA 2.5.2. Refer to link below to download the lastest version of NI-VISA.
