What is the Utilities Menu in VirtualBench?

Problem: The Utilities Menu that is in some VirtualBench Instruments is not documented. What does it do, and what boards does it work with?

Solution: The Utilities menu was added to VirtualBench-DMM, VirtualBench-FG, VirtualBench-Power Supply, VirtualBench-Scope, VirtualBench-Switch in version 2.5. This utilities menu is for use with IVI devices and National Instrument computer based instruments (NI-4060, NI-5911, etc), it is grayed out if you are using any other devices.

The menu contains the following selections:
  • Self Test - Performs a self test of the device via the corresponding IVI function call.
  • Reset - Resets the device via the corresponding IVI function call.
  • Error Query - Checks the device for an error code and returns the error via the corresponding IVI function call.
