Will the Ethernet Protocol for FieldPoint Be Available for Third Party Interface Development?

Problem: Will the protocol documentation be detailed enough to permit a third party to develop an interface?

Solution: The FP-1600/2000/2010 use a National Instruments proprietary communications protocol. At this point in time, there are no plans to release the protocol. FieldPoint Explorer is an OPC server that supports connections from third party OPC clients.

On the other hand, Optomux is the serial protocol for the FP-1000/1001 serial network modules, and it is published in the FP-1000/1001 Programmers Reference Manual. It can be implemented on any platform.
