Problem: The term options file is used in information regarding NI Volume License Manager (VLM). What is the options file, and how does it apply to NI VLM? Solution: The options file is a MacroVision FLEXnet technology which allows a license administrator to control various operating parameters of the FLEXnet license server. With NI VLM the options file is automatically created. It contains information you specify in NI VLM GUI including permissions and server preferences. The options file is normally found in the NI VLM installation directory with the name nilm.opt. Important Note: Do not edit the options file used by NI VLM. When clicking the Apply Changes button or starting the license server in NI VLM, the options file is overwritten.
