為什麼在我裝了GPIB卡後，某些Dell、Gateway及Micron的電腦再開機時就會出現問題？

問題: 為什麼我的Dell Dimension 4100電腦(或Gateway 及 Micron computer)裝了GPIB卡後，再開機會有當掉的現象？
而如果移除GPIB卡片就又恢復正常了呢？

解答: 這些問題是因為上述電腦的BIOS所造成的。Sun及Macintosh平台的BIOS會試圖去執行GPIB卡片中expanded ROM的內部程式，而X86平台並不會有此行為。而且這些機型都是共用Intel D815EEA 主機板。
Dell,Micron,Gateway,及Intel已經發布相關BIOS的修正版本，請與供應商聯繫以升級BIOS。
以下是各型號所建議的對應版本：

For Dell, update your BIOS to version A05 or later (4100_A05.exe, available through Dell FTP site linked below.)

For Intel, update your BIOS to version P05 or later.

For Micron, update your BIOS to version P08 or later.

For Gateway, update your BIOS to version P06 or later.

很重要的是一定要再做BIOS升級前與主機板製造商聯繫，以確保您正確的更新並選擇適當的BIOS版本。有些主機板使用Intel 815晶片但並沒有被列在上述名單中，他們也是可以更新BIOS的，不過BIOS更新黨是特定設計給不同組態的主機板，所以這頁所列的資訊以及相關檔案可能並不適合於您的機器。
