Multiple Counters Appear Disabled When Using with DIO on 6602 in Microsoft Visual Basic

Primary Software: Measurement Studio>>Enterprise Edition (Full Development System)
Primary Software Version: 6.0
Primary Software Fixed Version: N/A
Secondary Software: Measurement Studio>>Professional Edition (Base Package), Measurement Studio>>Standard Edition (Starter Kit)

Problem: After writing to a digital line on my 6602 device in Visual Basic, some of the counters seem to be disabled. The counters do not generate any errors, but they do not seem to be measuring anything. After doing a device reset, the counters work again. Also, if you shut down Visual Basic and reopen it, the counters appear to work again.

Solution: Complete the following steps to resolve this problem.
  1. Make sure you are not using the same lines for DIO that the counters are using. On the 6602, there is one DIO port that is dedicated to DIO. The other digital ports are shared with the counters. You can use these digital lines only as a counter or a digital line, but not as both simultaneously.

  2. Make sure the signals are present by measuring the signals at the pins of the counters that are not working. You also can verify the signals by moving the signals from the counter that does not work to a counter that works.

  3. If you verified that the signal is present and the counter still does not work, use virtual channels for your DIO lines.
