Can I Run a VI On an NI PCI/PXI-7030/6xxx or NI PCI/PXI-7041/6040 Device Without LabVIEW Real-Time?

Hardware: Multifunction DAQ (MIO)>>Real-Time>>PCI-7041/6040E

Problem:
I have a National Instruments PCI/PXI-7030 or 7041-based RT Series DAQ device. Can I use the DAQ daughter board portion of the device directly from LabVIEW without the LabVIEW Real-Time Module installed?

Solution:
No, these devices require the LabVIEW Real-Time module to target and embed a program on the 7030 or the 7041 to access the DAQ daughter board. The NI PCI/PXI-7030/6xxx and NI PCI/PXI-7041/6040 RT cards are composed of two parts: the 7030 or 7041 are a single-board computer where the embedded LabVIEW RT program runs and the 6xxx part is the DAQ daughterboard.

You do not have direct access to the DAQ daughterboard from the Windows computer because the 7030 or 7041 motherboard connects to its DAQ daughterboard through a local PCI bus not accessible from the host computer. You can configure the DAQ board from Measurement and Automation Explorer (MAX), but you cannot run test panels.

It is possible to run a LabVIEW RT executable on an RT Series DAQ device installed in a computer that does not have LabVIEW installed. The executable must be targeted to the 7030 or 7041 to be able to access to DAQ daughterboard. See the link below for more information on how to configure such an executable.
