Error 1073807346: Error Occured at VISA Open and NI-RIO Open: Given Session or Object Reference is Invalid

Problem:
I am done writing and compiling my FPGA code and I want to run it. However, when I use the Open FPGA Reference and Invoke nodes on my host VI, when I hit the Run button, I get the following error:
Error occured at VISA Open and NI-RIO open. The given session or object reference is invalid.
What is going on and how can I fix this error?

Solution:
The reason you are getting this error is because you have not configured any resource for your FPGA device. Follow the steps listed below to configure your FPGA device and eliminate the error.

1. Go to the Project Explorer window and right-click on your FPGA device. Select on Properties.
   

   
   
   

2. In the resource field, type in RIO0::INSTR.
   

   
   
   

3. Click OK.

You should now be able to run your FPGA VI without any errors.
