How Many Devices Can I Communicate With Using RS-485 Serial Products?Hardware: Serial>>RS-485
Problem: I have a National Instruments RS-485 serial product (PCI-485, PCMCIA-485, ENET-485, etc) and I am wondering how many instruments I can communicate with at the same time? Solution: The product pages for these products state that they "communicate with up to 31 devices." This number is per port so if your serial product has 4 ports, you can communicate with 124 devices connected at full load.
