Create Multiplexer and Matrix Configurations Using Single Pole Double Throw (SPDT) SwitchesHardware: Switches
Problem: I have a general purpose switch that only has Single Pole Double Throw (SPDT) configurations on it. Can I create a multiplexer or matrix topology from these switches? Solution: SPDT switches can be used to create both configurations. Multiplexer The figure below shows how a 1X4 Multiplexer can be created. The red wires are physical connections that will need to be made using appropriate cabling. Each individual relay will need to be controlled so that signals are routed correctly. Here, signals are being routed to Channel 2. Matrix The figure below shows how a 2X2 Matrix can be created.
