Error -1074118655, -1073807343 or -1074118644 Occurs When Addressing a PXI Instrument

Hardware: Modular Instruments>>Digital Multimeters (DMM), Digital I/O (DIO)>>High-Speed>>PCI-6562, Modular Instruments>>High-Speed Digitizers (Scopes), Digital I/O (DIO)>>High-Speed>>PCI-6551, Digital I/O (DIO)>>High-Speed>>PXI-6541, Digital I/O (DIO)>>High-Speed>>PXI-6561, Digital I/O (DIO)>>High-Speed>>PXI-6551, Digital I/O (DIO)>>High-Speed>>PCI-6561, Digital I/O (DIO)>>High-Speed>>PXI-6542, Digital I/O (DIO)>>High-Speed>>PXI-6552, Digital I/O (DIO)>>High-Speed>>PXI-6562, Digital I/O (DIO)>>High-Speed>>PCI-6542, Digital I/O (DIO)>>High-Speed>>PCI-6552, Digital I/O (DIO)>>High-Speed>>PCI-6541, Switches, Signal Sources (AWG/FG/AO)>>Arbitrary Waveform and Function Generators

Problem:
When I try to open a session to my PXI instrument (NI-DMM, NI-FGEN, NI-SCOPE, NI-HSDIO, NI-SWITCH, NI-DCPower) or try to Validate my Virtual Device in NI Switch Executive, I get one of the following errors. Why is this?

Driver Error Code
NI-DMM -1074118655
NI-DCPower -1073807343
NI-SWITCH -1074118644
NI Switch Executive -1074118644
NI-FGEN -1073807343
NI-SCOPE -1073807343
NI-HSDIO -1073807343

Solution:
These errors usually occur when you address the instrument with a VISA resource descriptor (e.g. PXI1::15::INSTR) instead of a DAQ resource descriptor (e.g., DAQ::1::INSTR for Traditional DAQ, Dev1 or PXI1Slot1 for DAQmx). Since the NI Modular Instrument drivers use NI-DAQ to detect and communicate with the boards, you must use the DAQ descriptor to open a session to them with these drivers.

For NI Switch Executive, the resource descriptor is in the IVI Driver Session under the Hardware tab. Double click on the Resource Descriptor to change it.

Note: The dropdown menu will only display the VISA resource descriptor, and that the DAQ resource descriptor will need to be manually entered.

Refer to the "Hardware Asset" section of the Measurement and Automation Explorer Help for valid resource descriptor options. The help can be accessed within Measurement and Automation Explorer (MAX) under Help»MAX Help. Also, see KB 33A96PCW (linked below) for a detailed description of a DAQ resource descriptor.
