Why Do I Get Error 63 When Updating the Software on my FieldPoint?

Hardware: Compact FieldPoint, FieldPoint

Problem:
I am using the following software:

LabVIEW Real-Time 6.X
FieldPoint OS 9.X

Why do I get error 63 when I attempt to update the OS or installed software?

Solution:


This error occurs due to an incorrect IP address being used for the FieldPoint system. In these older versions of software there is no way to obtain an IP address from DHCP. The only option is to set the IP address manually.

When setting the IP address manually ensure that the IP address does not already exist on the network by pinging that address. You can ping the IP address using the following steps:

  • At your host PC go to Start » Run
  • Enter cmd and press enter
  • At the command line type in ping <IP address> and press enter
  • If the ping times out this means the IP address does not exist on the network and can be used
  • If the ping comes back with a reply, use another address

Using a unique IP address will resolve this issue
