Why Does 127.0.0.1 Get Added to my VI Server: Machine Access List When Running Traces?Primary Software: LabVIEW Toolkits>>Desktop Execution Trace ToolkitPrimary Software Version: 1.0 Primary Software Fixed Version: N/A Secondary Software: N/A
Problem: Whenever I choose Trace Execution... from my project, I noticed that the IP address of 127.0.0.1 gets added to my VI Server: Machine Access List options in LabVIEW. Why does this happen, and what does this IP address refer to? Solution: The Desktop Execution Trace Toolkit (DET) uses this IP address to communicate with a stand-alone application or a shared library file. The 127.0.0.1 IP address itself is also known as localhost, which literally means "this computer" and refers to the local machine that you are currently using. This address is needed to open a trace connection from the Desktop Execution Trace Toolkit, as it uses VI Server to populate the local application instances list.
