Measurement Studio Category Always Selected When Adding a New Item

Problem:
Every time I right-click on the project and select Add»New Item, the Measurement Studio is always selected and I have to select a different category to access normal language templates.  How do I prevent Measurement Studio category from being selected by default?     

Solution:
The behavior of selecting a subcategory by default instead of the top-level category appears to be default behavior for add-ons in Visual Studio.  You cannot change the default category.  You can, however, remove the category.

If you remove the category, the Measurement Studio item templates will still be available under the main language category (such as C# or Visual Basic).  Follow these instructions to remove the category from the Visual Studio environment.
  1. Close Visual Studio 2005.
  2. Browse to Program Files\Microsoft Visual Studio 8\Common7\IDE\ItemTemplates\CSharp.
  3. Copy the contents of the Measurement Studio folder here into the 1033 folder (copy the three zip files into the 1033 folder).
  4. Delete the Measurement Studio folder.
  5. Repeat steps 2 through 4 for Visual Basic (using VisualBasic rather than CSharp in step 2).
  6. Open the command prompt (Start»Run and type in cmd and click OK).
  7. Browse to Program Files\Microsoft Visual Studio 8\Common7\IDE\.
  8. Enter devenv /setup and wait a minute until the development environment is reset.
  9. Open Visual Studio to ensure that the change has been applied.
