"Board Cannot Be Found" Error When Launching NI-FBUS on Windows NT

Hardware: Industrial Communications>>Fieldbus>>AT-FBUS

Problem: When launching NI-FBUS on Windows NT, I receive an error stating the board cannot be found. What might cause this problem?

Solution: This indicates the NIFBUSYS.DLL has not been invoked.

When installing an FBUS card under Windows NT, start by verifying the address and dipswitch settings as well the IRQ. Then run:

Start >> Programs >> National Instruments FBUS >> Interface Config

You should see your board in the FBUS Interface Configuration Utility.

Then run:
Start >> Programs >> National Instruemtns FBUS >> NIFB
If this returns an error that the board cannot be found, make sure that the NIFBUSYS.DLL has been launched.

To launch NIFBUSYS.DLL, go to:

Start >> Settings >> Control Panel >> Devices

and find the NIFBUSYS.DLL in the list. Check the setting under the Startup column. The NIFBUSYS.DLL should be set to startup automatically, so that it will launch when the system is rebooted.
