License Borrowing Not Supported Error Message

Primary Software: Other NI Software>>NI Volume License Manager
Primary Software Version: 2.1
Primary Software Fixed Version: N/A
Secondary Software: N/A

Problem:
When I start the "check-out" period for borrowing by setting LMBORROW (HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\FLEXlm License Manager\Borrow) via command line or selecting Set Borrow Expiration in LMTOOLS, and then I try to open concurrently licensed software, I receive an error message similar to:

Solution:
Concurrently licensed software cannot be borrowed.  During the check-out mode, all software that you open will be borrowed for use when you disconnect from the network.  Therefore, you cannot open concurrently licensed software while you are in the check-out mode.

To open concurrently licensed software, you must either:

  • Delete the LMBORROW registry key
  • Select Don't Borrow Anymore Today in LMTOOLS
  • End the check-out mode via the command-line
