Using Analog Encoders with NI Motion Controllers

Hardware: Motion Control

Problem:
I have an analog encoder (or resolver) that outputs analog sine and cosine signals such as the Stegmann-Stick motor feedback system. I would like to use this as feedback in my servo motor setup. Can I use it with an NI Motion controller?

Solution:
The analog encoder can not be connected directly to the motion controller, however it can be used. In order to make this work, you will need an interpolator which converts the analog signals to quadrature encoder signals.

Follow the links below to find more about the Renishaw or Heidenhain interpolator for converting analog feedback signals to quadrature encoder signals.
