Disk and Memory Footprints for CompactRIO

Hardware: CompactRIO

Problem:

Disk and memory footprints for PharLap and VxWorks have increased more than 10% allowed over LabVIEW 8.2.1.  The top three contributors are Variable Client Support 1.4, Network Variable Engine 1.4, and the LabVIEW Real-Time Module 8.5.  This increase in software size could result in the following situations:

  • The application does not deploy to the CompactRIO Target
  • The application runs out of memory during execution

Solution:

If you are not using shared variables in your application, it is recommended that you uninstall Variable Client Support and Network Variable Engine from your CompactRIO controller.

Steps to Uninstalling Software from your CompactRIO controller

  • Open Measurement and Automation Explorer (MAX)
  • Expand your CompactRIO system under Remote Systems
  • Right-click Software and select Add/Remove Software
  • In the Software Selection screen, select Custom software installation (currently installed)
