"Unable to connect to the data item on the module" Error When Attempting to Find Devices with FieldPoint

Hardware: Compact FieldPoint

Problem:
My FieldPoint shows up in Measurement & Automation Explorer (MAX), I have assigned it an IP address, and I've installed LabVIEW RT. However, I cannot successfully Find Devices. What do I need to do in order to find devices on my FieldPoint?

Solution:
The FieldPoint Drivers need to be installed on your controller before you can Find Devices.  To install FieldPoint onto the Real-Time controller:

  1. In MAX, left-click on the + to the left of your FieldPoint device under Remote Systems.
  2. Right-click on Software and select Add/Remove Software.
  3. Follow the instructions in the resulting LabVIEW Real-Time Software Wizard window that pops up.
