How do I use 7.0 Measurement Studio assemblies after 7.1 has been installed?

Primary Software: Measurement Studio>>.NET Support
Primary Software Version: 7.1
Primary Software Fixed Version: 7.1
Secondary Software: N/A

Problem: When I installed Measurement Studio 7.1, my 7.0 applications were upgraded to 7.1. Now, when I open an old project that was developed against 7.0 assemblies, I am developing against the new 7.1 assemblies instead of the old 7.0 assemblies. Can I still develop applications using the 7.0 assemblies, even with 7.1 installed?

Solution: Yes, however it is recommended that you develop your existing applications against the new 7.1 assemblies as new features have been added. However, if you would like to develop against the old 7.0 assemblies after 7.1 is installed, follow these steps:

Note:
The steps below assume that Measurement Studio was installed to C:\Program Files\National Instruments\MeasurementStudio70, which is the install default directory. If you installed somewhere different, change the paths that contain C:\Program Files\National Instruments\MeasurementStudio70 below to the directory you installed to.

  1. Obtain the 7.0.0.341 assemblies from NationalInstruments by contacting NI Support
  2. Create a 7.0.0.341 directory under C:\Program Files\National Instruments\MeasurementStudio70\DotNET\Assemblies.
  3. Copy the contents of the 7.0.0.341 directory received from NI support to C:\Program Files\National Instruments\MeasurementStudio70\DotNET\Assemblies\7.0.0.341
  4. Create the following registry key to point to the location of the 7.0.0.341 assemblies:
    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\VisualStudio\7.1\AssemblyFolders\NationalInstruments70]
    @="C:\\Program Files\\National Instruments\\MeasurementStudio70\\DotNET\\Assemblies\\7.0.0.341\\"
    1. Go to Start >> Run and type regedit. <\li>
    2. Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\VisualStudio\7.1
    3. Right-click on AssemblyFolders and select New >> Key
    4. The new key will appear and a default value will show in the right pane, right click on (Default) and select Modify
    5. Enter C:\\Program Files\\National Instruments\\MeasurementStudio70\\DotNET\\Assemblies\\7.0.0.341\\ and hit OK

Alternatively, you can also use the .reg file listed below as it will create the key listed above.

NOTE: Before making any changes to your registry, it is always a good idea to export your current settings as a back-up of your working configuration. You can do this by right-clicking on the very top level (My Computer) within your registry editor, and clicking Export.
