Traditional DAQ Palette Does Not Appear After Upgrading LabVIEWPrimary Software: Driver Software>>NI-DAQPrimary Software Version: 4.6.1 Primary Software Fixed Version: N/A Secondary Software: N/A
Problem: I recently upgraded LabVIEW versions and chose to include the Traditional NI-DAQ (Legacy) driver during the installation. However, I do not see the Traditional DAQ Subpalette on the Functions Palette and I cannot access the example programs from the NI Example Finder. I tried to repair the driver, but this did not help. How do I correct this problem? Solution: This problem occurs when you have installed the Traditional NI-DAQ (Legacy) driver with a previous version of LabVIEW and you do not uninstall it before the LabVIEW upgrade is performed. Because the driver is detected as already being installed when the upgrade is performed, no support for the new installation of LabVIEW is installed. This is a known issue with the Traditional NI-DAQ (Legacy) driver. There are two solutions to this problem depending on your use case: To use Traditional NI-DAQ (Legacy) with only the latest version of LabVIEW
To use Traditional NI-DAQ (Legacy) with multiple versions of LabVIEW Copy over the following folders from the most recent version of LabVIEW to the other LabVIEW version folders. [LVDIR] indicates the folder of the latest LabVIEW version, such as "C:\Program Files\National Instruments\LabVIEW 8.6"
Notes: The Traditional NI-DAQ (Legacy) API is mass-compiled in LabVIEW 7.0. This will not affect the functionality of your VIs. However, LabVIEW will prompt you to save the Traditional NI-DAQ (Legacy) subVIs if your LabVIEW version is greater than 7.0. To avoid the prompts, mass-compile the folders referenced above. For information on mass-compiling, see the related links below. If you require Traditional NI-DAQ (Legacy) support for versions of LabVIEW earlier than 7.0, you need an earlier version of Traditional NI-DAQ (Legacy). These can be downloaded from ni.com/support. One caveat: if you open and save any examples or create any VIs in your latest version of LabVIEW you will not be able to use the VI's in a previous version. It is very important to copy the folders before saving the VI's.
