Problem: I installed LabVIEW 6.0, I then I tried to install the LabVIEW 7.1 Run-Time Engine and the installation failed with the following error message, "Error 1312. Cannot create the directory 'C:\WINNT\system32\Cwds.hlp'. A file with this name already exists. Please rename or remove the file and click retry, or click Cancel to exit." The file cwds.hlp (help file for DataSocket) is installed by the LabVIEW 6.0 Run-Time Engine installer. The LabVIEW 7.1 Run-Time Engine installer tries to replace the file and fails. Solution: First, please note that the LabVIEW 7.1.1 Run-Time Engine does not have this problem. To install the 7.1 Run-Time-Engine you can either delete the specified file when the error shows up and choose retry, or you can install the LabVIEW 7.0 Run-Time Engine before you install the LabVIEW 7.1 Run-Time Engine.
