PFI lines of a PCI-6232 for quadrature encoder measurements

Hardware: Multifunction DAQ (MIO)>>M Series>>PCI-6232

Problem:
How can I connect a quadrature encoder to a PCI-6232 with a CB-37-HVD connector block?

Solution:
In order to connect a quadrature encoder to a PCI-6232 device with a CB-37-HVD connector block, you can use the following table:

 

Counter A Input B Input
ctr0 PFI0 PFI2
ctr1 PFI3 PFI5

 

When using counter 0, connect the first signal from the quadrature encoder to PFI0 and the second signal to PFI2.
When using counter 1, connect the first signal from the quadrature encoder to PFI3 and the second signal to PFI5.
 
The PCI-6232 has the following logic levels:
Logic "0" level .....................................0 to 4 V
Logic "1" level .....................................10 to 30 V
