Problem: What is the meaning of the parameters for the class organisation in the DASYLab Rainflow module ? Solution: You have to be sure that the expected stress time function is inside the selected range. If the range limits are crossed by the input signal the counting results are not very expressive. In all counting methods, oscillations between classes are not recognized; they are automatically suppressed. If a small amplitude oscillation crosses the next class limits it will be counted. Use a hysteresis to eliminate these random events and to filter off small oscillations that don't affect damages and are often caused by the noise of the measurement device,. With a hysteresis, the counting starts only if a minimum oscillation amplitude is reached. The hysteresis orients itself to the class limits or the extrema. In methods that weight class limit crossings, the hysteresis is bound to the class limits. If the counting starts at the class limit, the next counting will only start if the STF falls below the hysteresis and crosses the class limit again. In methods that use ranges, the hysteresis orients itself to the extrema. Counting restarts when the counting range is larger than the range of the hysteresis. Related Links: Attachments:
