Reading TDM Files with No Extension in DIAdem

Primary Software: DIAdem
Primary Software Version: N/A
Primary Software Fixed Version: N/A
Secondary Software: N/A

Problem:
I created TDM files in LabVIEW using the data storage VIs, but I forgot to include the .tdm extension with the file name. Now LabVIEW has created two files, one with no extension and one with a .bin extension. When I try to bring that data into DIAdem, DIAdem cannot seem to read them. Is this data lost as far as DIAdem is concerned or is there some way it can be read?

Solution:
When creating TDM files, if you include the .tdm extension with the file name when the file is created, two files will be created. One file will contain a .tdm extension and the other will contain a .tdx extension. These files are what DIAdem looks for when reading TDM files. Refer to the Introduction to LabVIEW Data Storage VIs tutorial and the DIAdem Help (Start » Programs » National Instruments » DIAdem 10.0 » DIAdem Help) for more information on TDM and TDX files.

If no extension is available, DIAdem may not be able to read it. Several workarounds are:

Option 1
Read the created files back into LabVIEW and rewrite them, including the .tdm extension this time.

Option 2
Manually tell DIAdem that a file with no extension is to be read as a TDM file.

To do this, open the DIAdem NAVIGATOR panel and select the local DataFinder. Next, locate your non-extension file, right-click, and choose "Open With...". Then choose the TDM format and select Load.
