Checking Free System Resources in Windows 95/98

Hardware: Legacy DAQ Devices

Problem: How do I check for free system resources in Windows 95 or 98?

Solution:
  1. Go to Start » Settings » Control Panel » System » Device Manager

  2. Double-click on "Computer" and you will see the following window:

  3. This window shows all the IRQ, DMA and Input/Output ranges used up in your computer by other devices.

  4. Any resource not listed is available and can be assigned to your data acquisition board.


    5. Note: Only DMA 5, 6 and 7 can be assigned to any of our ISA (AT-, PC-) boards.
